The Official TOTA Wristwatch Thread

Okay, everyone...need some help here...and I hope this is not taken as a d!abolic thread but more of a Cellular/Mobile/VoIP type of thread

Both of my watches are now broken and now that I'm all grown up and can buy my own watch (LOL no need to wait for Mommy and Daddy anymore ) I was wondering if my fellow TOTAs (especially someone who's a watch expert as I know nothing about them; except that Rolex > all) can advise the following:

1) Do you have any experience with the following list of watches?

2) Do you know where I could get any of the following watches for the best possible price; I've listed the prices I've been seeing on ebay/other online watch stores and perhaps someone on TOTA can shed some light?

3) Based on the selections I've posted, are there any additional recommendations you can make? LOL as you can see I love racing-inspired watches with supersized diameters, bezels, lots of pretty little chronographs, black dials, and stainless steel metal bracelets!

4) WHAT KIND OF WATCH DO YOU WEAR? I have a broken-bracelet Kenneth Cole which Jenny bought me from Sunglasses Hut (I need to send it to the U.S. to get fixed ) and a Seiko Kinetic (which needs to be cleaned, I think, because the kinetically charged battery keeps running out overnight) which my Dad bought me when I graduated from high school in 1996.

The wish list:

#1 - Rolex Oyster Professional (Perpetual) Cosmograph Daytona
I fucking love this watch.

- 40mm case diameter
- Price: (base model) approx. $4,000 (used) - $10,000 (new)

#2 - Breitling Super Avenger

- 48 mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $4,000 - $8,000 (new) (not sure why so much variance, but those are ebay and other website prices)

#3 - Oris Williams F1 Team Chronograph

- 45mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $1,700 (new)

#4 - Omega Speedmaster Split Second

- 42 mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $4,000 (new)

#5 - Breitling Chrono-Matic

- 44 mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $4,000 (new)

#6 - Ball Trainmaster Pulsemeter

- 41 mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $1,700 (new)

#7 - Tissot V8

- 43 mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $400 (new)

#8 - Swiss Army Victorinox Maverick II Chrono

- 42 mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $500 (new)

A few more I kinda like, for good measure:

- Rolex Oyster Professional GMT Master II
- 40 mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $4,000 (used) - $7,000 (new)

- Tag Heuer Monaco (I used to like this, but not anymore after seeing the above selections)
- 40 mm case diameter
- Price: approx. $2,500 (new)

You listed watches from $400 to $10,000. That's a HUGE fucking difference there. That's like me asking if I should get a Miata or a 360 Spyder.

why didn't you say something, i would've brought you to where my father works, i'm pretty sure they have all these watches and more...

btw, all these are sports watches. If you want to wear and look like a pro, stay away from sports watches go instead for the classic looks.

I hear ya bro...you and Sasha...Jenny said exactly the same thing. I just can't settle for that thinner, understated look. I prefer the bulk (kinda like you-know-what ) That's why I'm thinking of a pricier sporty look.

Yeah, Dima--there's a big range, but the $8K/$10K is totally out of the question...$4K may be a possibility and I could even go for a *gasp* replica!

Malek, this is a new development because both of my watches went kaput in the last week. So I'm kinda stuck now. But I will def touch base with you next time I'm in MTL. Maybe I could even call your Dad's store...

Also, please tell me you're not actually thinking of buying a multi-thousand dollar watch on ebay.

What I'm wearing right now is a gift from my uncle (he's the vice-president of a watch factory in Russia, apparently), and as far as I can tell, it's custom-made as I've looked on the Internet and haven't been able to find one just like it. Here is the closest thing I found so far: http://www.aviator-watch.com/html_c...no_polished.htm

I'll snap a pic of the real thing later.

Maybe it's my personal ethics, but I'd be happier with something genuine that I can afford rather than for a replica of something I can't.

you can also go for a DKNY watch, very trendy, loads of models, not the kind of watch that'll last you 30 years, but cheap enough to change it very often:
