fix levels on mix

I have a mix that I really like but during the mix in of one song, there's a sudden jump in volume. I didn't watch the levels too carefully on this one. The problem is noticeable but fixed quickly. Is there anyway to fix this?

I don't know how the pros do it. But I would use Sound Forge and highlight the start jump in volume all the way to the trimming of the gain you did. I forgot which tab it is, but SF has a graph you can basically "curve" out the volume of the section that was highlighted. It really matters how the volume jumps up and cuts off. Fuck around with it.

a little compression will help even out peaks and valleys, try not to use too much as you lose dynamic range when you add compression

I had the same issue recently when I accidentally recorded with the volume too low. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
