I've noticed that a kick sound from FL Studio reads at -08.25dB, whereas the same kick is louder and peaks at -00.00dB in Cubase SX 3. Does anyone know why this is? I've never had this problem in the past, I just opened up Cubase today and imported a kick and it just sounded a lot louder...(the volume on my mixer is the same that it has been for 2 years), plus its peaking at -00.00dB. Can anybody please offer any suggestions?

Did you export the kick in FL?? If so it may have had a limiter on the master

I did not actually, I just dragged and dropped from the same source where the FL Studio one was dragged and dropped from. Actually, I never had this problem before...

I opened up a Cubase SX 3 project where I have a kick loaded whose volume by default was at -0.00 and was peaking at -08.25dB, which is perfect. I then Imported the same kick right under it in a new audio track and it played at -00.00dB (under the default volume. -0.00).

I just can't understand what happened?

Circular panning law in FL, in the general project settings.

What would the equivalent be in Cubase (in terms of dB, I mean)?

No no, go to the general tab of project settings in fl, turn off circular panning law and you will get the same results.
