Big Ears Madonna-Give it2me (Vocoder or something else)?

First, here is the sample so you can hear what I am talking about :
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]

First there is the "normal" vocal... Then comes the vocal with some effect (is that vododer?) and the at the end comes again the "normal" vocal...

First I was sure it is vocoder, but is that really?
Doesn't the vocoder efefct sound different?
So what is the effect used here?

I'm not such a huge Madonna fan, but this effect sounds cool...
Makes her voice more "nice"

two things come to mind:

1. they used a program like melodyne and wipped clear all the vibrato a natural voice has(which makes it sound robotic). then maybe with a bit of filter made that sound

2. there is a preset on the roland v-synth that does something similar to this and she's used it in other tracks of hers but usually there is a big lfo modulation on her pitch... this one seems very stagnant.

Melodyne... I have seen some promo video of that once.
It seemed really cool tool. But I think it was bit pricey?

Any ideas, can that effect (clear all the vibrato and stuff) be done by some cheaper other programs? Maybe with Reason? Or some vst/au plugins?

OK well, theres a bit of phaser on the whole thing, the effect your talking about is most probably either Melodyne or Autotune, theres a free program that apparently can do a similar thing I think. OF course, its with less accuracy - but thats not the point in the Cher effect is it?

Basically its not vocoding, its just a fairly tight pitch correction. Its a nice effect to use in moderation especially in trance. IIO used to use it alot I think, and quite subtly which is good.

Also, theres obviously delay and stuff going on, maybe also some autofilter, its hard to tell really.

You can definitely get started on this type of effect using Melodyne. As others have said, you'll need to do some creative tweaking in Melodyne and then stack some extra effects after Melodyne to get the right sound.

Hey thank you all for the input!!

The Melodyne looks really GREAT!
But do you think, that effect can be done only with the Melodyne Studio?
It is bit expencive... The Melodyne Uno 1.x is more in my budget range...
