I hope this is the right place to post this, looked like the place where i could put this question:
How do you make a remix??
You guys must think that this guy is some kind of an idiot,so i hope you dont need to be smart to get into the trance business :P
Well what i mean is actually does one have to make the new song from scratch, or "is one suposed to talk with the guy who did the song who will then send one something to work with".
YOu mast realize this dude has no idea. Thats why i need the help,i need knowledge!!!!!!

Try the production section. Read the stickies and search the old threads. I'm sure you'll be able to find what you're looking for.

Aight,
thanks
Excellent, so far i have recovered information that has something to do with Remix Parts being given from labels and something with accapellas
...gonna google that bastard
So ther 2 ways of doing it getting the Parts from the artis/label now i dunno if the actual sounds or just the midi or both..
Or making the sound from scratch which is well a lot harder I presume...
Cool, well i saw ther the "Download 2 free parts" so that confirms one of my theories...and sadly the competition is already over
"damn, i would have totally won that one "

Beatport have remix competitions all the time, Just sign up for there emails and you'll be told when there is one and where to download the parts etc from... You have any program in mind to use to remix? are you looking more into Remixing or Producing?
Understanding music construction/theory and knowing howto produce will help you with remixing a lot. How serious are you?

Well lets put it like this: Id like to be extremly serious, but i dont have a lot of knowledge of how to make a remix for example. I read a "production Help book" from simon cann and i started using z3ta as in trieng to match some sounds of tracks i had,and ive been looking int to rhino and vanguard and these kinda programs. But id like to be making way more progress than i am making actually.
Remixing i have no experience at all.But since i dont think that i can make my own track just now(lack of experience,and/or creativity) i thought i culd start with remixing and see how it goes.A lot of times i hear tracks where i say "jeese if i could add this and delete that part this track would rule" and stuff, but then i realize that i wouldnt know HOW to do it
Yes and understand that music construction/theory is basically the most important thing of all, this is the first time that im "into music" . I never enjoyed music this much but when i "discovered" electronic music , well i dunno id love to be part of it.

Foem? lol
Good to see mate, Welcome to the world of EDM Once you really delve into it at places like beatport.com you will start to develope
a taste in whatever style of music you like and some good music and producers.
Basically what you wan't to do is grab a Instrumental version of a song (Also known as a dub edit? i think).. Then find a song you like roughly about the same BPM.. chuck them in your desired program (Ableton ) Warp em up, Get out your EQ's and have fun
I had some fun with this a long time ago at some crappy underage teens bday party.. fucked up the barbie doll song and mixed it with some happy hardcore.. Everyone enjoyed it :/ Weird.. I was just bored of playing the top40 crap.
I don't have any real good productions.. At all.. So feel free to ignore me here but once you have the right programs and samples.. Producing is one of those things you just play around with until something sounds good.. Music theory definately would help though.. Iv been meaning to sit my ass down and read through this:
If remixing is what you wanna play with.. Search up some dub/instrumental stuff and play around with it. Remember to use your EQs.. for example don't have bass at 12o'clock on both tracks or it will probably trainwreck.
