I'm having alot of trouble surprisingly finding matching offbeat bass for my productions (far easier to find progressive basslines?!?) I know that may seem weird to some as offbeats been beaten to death. But im currently using the following synths :

vanguard
nexus
absynth
v station
massive
z3ta+

as well as atmosphere but i doubt that'll help. I'm side chain compressing them off the peak controller, but for some reason my bass lacks punch, any suggestions? I've heard massive is great for basslines, but i am very new at it and still learnin the interface on it.

The first preset on V-Station is a pretty decent one for basslines.

Actually, the basslines on Atmosphere is highly usable.

Those synths are all perfectly capable of creating what you want, what exactly is the problem you're having? Bass doesnt usually tend to be particularly punchy but you can always try adding a quick downward pitch envelope for an extra bit of punch at the beginning of each hit...

sidechaining isn't the "holy grail" and will not make your stuff punchy if it's not punchy to begin with.

it just adds a touch of extra room on the bottom end to kinda turn things up...

you can make good bass with anything

Been using Albino, has decent bass. Really Feeling Reaktor lately, there are some sikk patches you can get for it.
Massive is good easy to use, (not really my thing), meh on the rest. I guess v-station, not that impressed with it.

You can always try adding more oscillators, might get a result your looking for. Eqing frequinces out can get you more of a punchy bass.
Try adding additional comrepssion to your side chain.
Can be coo to mess with bass to get differnt results.

Is there an andavtage to sidechaining from an off beat bass?
Considering the bass never actually hits the kick.

sidechain is the new buzzword

do it with everything, this way when you talk about your tracks, other producers will think you know what you're doing...

sometimes the bass has a release on it, and then it could be advantageos to sidechain with the offbeat bass...

but guys, i find it far better to do a sidechain using an eq, where you find the predominant frequency range of your kick or kicks, and have that frequency range ducked out of the bass. this way you can keep the feeling of that bass sound with the kick playing while still making a little bit of room.
