a good set of studio heaphones?

hey guys, long time since the last time ive posted, but anyway i am really getting all the info i can, and keep practicing as every second that i have, lol so my question is.. what in your experience are a good set of headphones for producing.. cause the ppl that i lived with are tired of listening to the same thing over and over almost every day ... thnks in advance

I use a pair of old AKG141 which I like cause you can also get a decent mixdown through them (which i personally find hard to do with the very popular AKG240) I also have AKG271 for vocalists, because they're very closed - very little leaking...

I think K240s are pretty much standard... I've got them and they're not bad. Beware of getting consumer type headphones, they have oerhyped and inaccurate bass and are great for listening and aweful for producing. Your really after something that doesn't make tracks sound great, since it will give you a more accurate mix.

Exactly. You want a honest and flat sound. The AKGs do that pretty well. I also have a pair of Senneheiser HD-280s and they're terrible for mixing. If I mix with them my mixes turn out too bright because of its slightly muffled highs and boomy bass. But they are great for A/B listening.

But they're hifi/audiophile headphones. It's really NOT what you want for producing/mixing.

i have sony mdr-v6. they sound good and feel good but not very accurate i think. atleast if i make a track in my headfones it sounds shit when listening on monitors later.
