It was the kind of thing you usually only see in the movies. You just don't expect to watch it happen in a Toronto courtroom.
Police are hunting for a suspect who was appearing before a judge on firearms related charges at 10am Wednesday morning at 361 University Ave. Just seconds after the judge ordered him held in custody, the 22-year-old turned around, looked at the door, and suddenly bolted from the room.
Court security took off after him in hot pursuit but he was too fast and had enough of a head start that he was able to evade them.
Renaldo Reid was last seen fleeing onto University Ave. and turning westbound on Queen St. West. A manhunt is out to find him but cops have no idea where he is now.
They're fairly sure they'll catch up to him eventually and in addition to all his other problems, he'll now be facing charges of escaping lawful custody.
The running man, who has no fixed address, is described as:
Black,
6'3",
200 lbs.,
Slim build,
Brown eyes,
Black hair in cornrows.
He was wearing a blue cotton long-sleeved pattern shirt. And cops now know one other thing about him: he appears to be a fast runner.

Isn't there a security station in the lobby, controlled access (screening), etc...???
How did he even make it out of the room, shouldn' there be security at the door?
WTF?
