Question HELP: Looking for a new video card

I need a new video card badly, my Voodoo3 is outdated and there are no drivers for XP. I'm thinking about either a GeForce3 or a eVGA GeForce4 MX440 64MB AGP. Also, I'm trying to stay in the price range of about $100-200. My friend was telling me to get an ATI Radion...what do you think I should get?

im not 'in the know' or anything about video cards, but i would get another geforce if i was buying one. i have the geforce2 with 32mb and it completely satifies my needs. it *could* be faster, but it almost mever lags and usually runs fastest at 1024 res. yes, FASTER than at 640 or 800...i can only imagine how the new ones smoke. it generally gives 45fps on games like serious sam and rtcw. other than that, normal use is fine - plus theres usually a new detanator driver out there...late/

Go for Geforce3, you will not have to upgrade it for ages and its an amazing graphics card.

For those that know something about video cards click this link and check the specs: http://www.compuplus.com/insidepage...id=592#moreinfo

I'm thinking for that price that's a pretty decent card but you tech experts might disagree, lemme know what you think...

dont get a geforce4MX. it is not advance as the geforce3 and doesnt support directx8. i would recommed a geforce3 ti200/500 or a ati radeon 7500/8500. these 2 are more advanced the the 4MX

do NOT get a Geforce MX.. thats just a waste of money. IMO, if you wanna fork an extra 50 bucks, go onto pricewatch.com, look up the Geforce4 Ti4400 (or 4200, either way itll be one of the best cards on the market) and get one delivered for around 250!!!

Best card, not too bad of a price tag.

BTW, if you really want the MX - WASTE - you can get it for 80 or so online and I saw the same for 50 at my circuit city today...

Heres another thing to think about... My opinions are EXTRERMELY biased and basically when I buy anything for my computer I get the best. Ive found that in doing this I save money by rarely upgrading.. also, you gotta find the deals. My last card, a Matrox G400, has lasted over 3 years, prolly more, and it cost me in the neighborhood of 100 bucks.

Yeah but I read that the GeForce4 has this new technology that shuts off portions of your hard drive that aren't being used when you're playing games to free up video RAM. That's why I was thinking on getting the GeForce4 but I need to stay in the $100-200 range.
