BEFORE ANYONE PIPES IN WITH WRONG, STUPID, OR COMPLETELY IDIOTIC SUGGESTIONS, let me get something across first:

A track with a brooding bassline does not make it deep.

Deep House refers to the groove, the rhythm, the feeling of being chilled, laidback, and smooth/grooved (aka smooved). That's why it's called Deep House. It's a house thing. It's chiefly exported from San Francisco and Chicago. Things that make it extra special that differentiate it from other forms of house (including "progressive"): real instruments. Saxophones, cellos, pianos. It is closer in relation to acid jazz and the swanky, soulful downtempo scene than it does with anything coming out of the asscrack of bloated brit former trance labels.

I like Nick Holder, Sunday Brunch, Miguel Migs, Kevin Yost, Blue Six, The Rurals, Mark Farina, Solar House, Demarkus Lewis, Dimitri from Paris, Fred Everything, Ian Pooley, Eddie Amador. The San Francisco scene has got to be the best Deep House scene in the world. So chill, so real, so right.

What? You mean like telling him to go out and buy some Sander Kleinenberg albums? Granted Sander K is awesome and I love him, but he doesn't spin typical Chicago-style deep house.

Sander Kleinenberg doesn't play deep house at all, and even if he does, he certainly doesn't epitomize the genre, which is what the poster is looking for.

This isn't a knock on Sander Kleinenberg--I quite like his music--he's just not what one should be looking for when one requests deep house.

And yes: Naked Music FTW.

Yeah that was kinda the point I was going for. Maybe I should've tagged it with sarcasm?

deep house have always been popular, and from what i know there is more or less these ones, the new york sound, the chicago sound, the detroit sound, the san fransisco sound, and then alot of european offshoots like the german sound and the stockholm sound. the san francisco sound became hugely popular because it is the most accessible sound, if you pitch it up +6 you have bog ol funkeh house.

my fav producers would be kenny dixon jr aka moodymann because he is more or less the kingpimp of the genre nowadays. Hulkkonen also holds it down strong and still delivers. i also like vincenzo, jean f cochios aka the timewriter but i don't like his more techhousy sound, also joey youngman, fred everything, chris lum, s.u.m.o., si brad in his various involvements (salt city orchestra, attaboy etc), bioground, and also migs, denes, pooley, jesper dahlbäck aka the persuader and most of the stuff he was involved in on the svek label, erot (r.i.p.), nick holder, but honestly the list can go on & on
