Question cue + house track

Quick noob question here guys and gals.

Where do you normally set your cue in the song, when the kick starts ? or auto cue feature/first beat ?

According to your sig, it'd be on the "ooon"

it really depends on the track. The first kick is a good rule of thumb, but not only limited to that. For instance, if you pratice a bit and know your tracks, layering a beat less intro over what is playing can pay off big time for a nice seamless blend. Some tracks are better off cued later on during "the meat" of the song. It really all depends on what you are trying to mix together and at how good your timing is

I have a problems using the search function in the track its like I pass up the "meat" of the song a little and find it hard to find the beginning of the "meat" with the platter lol...

with standard formula tracks it tends to start roughly around the 2 minute mark.

very loosely defined though. Sometimes it can be later sometimes earlier.

sometimes you might want to cue on the 2nd or 3rd beat if the track that's currently on has an unexpected drop back into the beat after a quiet break.

This is why i like to use serato. Lets me see the song waveform and set cue points accordingly.

if you know how to "read" the grooves in the vinyl by eye (it is not that hard) you don't need waveform
