Sneaker Pimp How old will you be when you quit going to clubs?

Clovis's mention of people "going to clubs at 40" in the "Minimal hypster" thread made me think about this question...

When do you think it will feel too weird / inappropriate for you to keep going to parties with loud dance music and lots of wasted people? How old do you think you'll be when you stop going out?

And do you anticipate that you'll ever stop listening to dance music entirely?

[I think I remember a few people here saying they already have.]

I don't know - the weird thing for me was when I started to play at clubs a bit more, the less I started to go out and stay out. Just became kind of "early hours" people out at clubs whether I was playing or not.

I think this also had a lot to do with how intensely bored I got with seeing headliners this past year and a half or so. Being so close to Chicago, and Chicago having such a massive pool of good locals, really meant that pretty much all I became interested in were local parties or seeing locals open for headliners. The only headliners in the past year (excluding DEMF) that really, really kept my interest were FDV, Joris Voorn, Max Graham, and Danny Howells. As such, I think I also just kind of fell less & less in love with the prospect of being out at a loud club until all hours of the morning. In the end we just wound up going out less and less, and really only staying out for locals.

That being said, this year I finished a massively busy school year and went to DEMF, and now I feel like my passion for dance music is back as much as it ever was. All I want to do is either be out listening to good music (preferably outside), or be playing it anywhere anyone will put up with it.

So in the end, I don't know how to answer your question. I have trouble predicting my own behavior.

I do, however, think I'll always have some sort of decks setup at my home for as long as I'm capable. It's very cathartic for me just to be able to play around for a while, whether it's out or at home.

I honestly don't see myself getting tired of it soon. I just moved to New York from Miami and I just started livin' it up here in NY.

My mom thinks it's crazy that I only go home to visit during big parties. She also doesn't understand why I would go to Detroit. haha.

Also another question...

When do you see other people as "too old" for clubbing? How old does a person at a club have to be for it to seem "weird" to you?

It's less their age, than their age in relation to who they are. I guess I'm just weirded out by people who discover EDM so late in the game. For me growing up it was the music I had always been looking for but never found.
