there are as many dubstep threads here as there are vibrasphere threads. check the planet mu appreciation thread, or do a search and you'll be more than satisfied.

I'm know quite a bit about dubstep anyhow.so i'm not asking for advice as such.

Ugh. I long for the days when we could discuss music without people spamming Youtube embeds across every page of a thread.
I actually read about this site in the Metro this morning, of all places. Coincidence?
definitely dont understand that. why would youtube embeds bother you? youtube has revolutionized the internet, why would you want to go back to a more basic form of communication? oh i get it, you're a journalist. you want to show off your grammar skillz. well you can do that too in addition to allowing your audience to actually see and hear what the hell you're talking about.

Agreed.
I've been guilty of this in the past, actually, but now that I'm no longer on a university connection I notice how much all the embedding slows down the loading of a thread.
It's also annoying how the thread gets really long so quickly with a bunch of YouTube windows.
Content, people! If you want to give an example, a plain link does fine...

YouTube has revolutionized the Internet and made browsing music a lot easier, but you don't have to embed things to make use of YouTube; a plain link works just fine, and is much less annoying.

so that's what you guys are talking about, its strictly a bandwith/memory issue. you know what i completely agree, i always tell people just a link on my myspace comments because i notice it really slows down my page, but over here it seems resources usage is not as high. embeds always seemed to be the norm around here, but if its slowing people down i am all for a new forum guideline that says we prefer links over embeds.

It annoys me for several reasons, the first being that my connection at my university accomodation is terrible, and it becomes a nightmare to read threads packed full of videos. The second, as JBJ says: just link to the bloody page rather than filling the screen with embedded videos.
It also annoys me in part because it's so rarely used to actually make a point in a conversation. It always ends up becoming just what you've done: a very tenuously connected column of videos to tracks you like. In the Tranceport thread the discussion just dissolved into people posting videos of old trance tracks and saying "Yeah, that track was awesome". People will post huge stacks of embedded Youtube clips at the slightest opportunity, as evidenced by yourself in this thread. It's turning TA into a giant sub-section of the Youtube comments section.

Yeah, that's the routine that most "classics" threads follow now.
I think that restricting the music discussion section to text and links would lead to much better "discussion."

And the sound quality is always crap anyway.
i totally agree but imagine that thread in a world without youtube: it would still dissolve into people posting old trance tracks and saying "Yeah, that track was awesome", the only difference would be them posting the artist-title instead of a youtube embed.
