yeah it's happened to me before as well. sometimes you do small stuff (like placing a bottle of shampoo) without even thinking about it. Especially if your mind is preoccupied with something, your hands can get a mind of their own and you won't notice.

Pull out your copy of the lease if you have one, or go to the landlord office and skim through it. Maybe for all you know, you gave your landlord company permission to enter whenever they please, which is technically legal if you sign it that way.

Mainly college town apartment companies fuss around with this kind of bullshit so they can try and find more ways to fine you and steal your security deposit, but you could be in the same boat.
