FL Studio Question: APL?

Whats the deal with this alternate panning law, google brings up no help, theres no information on it that i could find in the producers forum either...

The way I understand it is it lowers the center channel a bit(3db or something?), but its on by default, I'm also pretty sure it effects panning somehow(hence the name??)

If any fl studio pros could shed some light that'd be great. thanks

*note* It's located in the project tab

Im wondering, what is the practical use of having the panning law at either 0db, -3db or -6db ?

Thats honestly one of those mysterious FL attributes I've always been curious about myself. Some people claim if you change it that it makes everything sound better, I still think they're FOS because I never noticed any sounds improvements doing it on my tracks.

Well it does make the center sound "louder" and if we've learned anything from dance music louder = better, without going into "the loudness war" that is...

lulz@loudness war

Generally people tend to destroy their sound when they pack in like 3 compressors and 2 limiters on the master channel.

hijacked! just kiddin, im startin to think image-line doesn't even know what the APL is.

People like me and you would probably say it ruins the sound, people in the music business might say clipping tracks sells records.
