Right, let's make an example first:
A huge new hit project, which only has one channel. It's a kick in this case. I'm using a filter and a reverb for this one.
Make an automation of one of the effects, now with the right mouse button click the knob (from the other effect) you want to link to that automation and click "Link to controller". Remember to kill the "remove conflict" option first, or it'll take everything else(?) off the automation. Check out the "Internal controller" section and choose your effect's automation from it's list.
Now, at this part, if you want the knob your linking here to spin around with the automation, just press accept, and if you want it to for example do exactly the opposite action from the what the automation does, press the little arrow on the left of "Mapping formula" and choose "inverted".
With this, I managed to make a filter get the hell away from my kick and make the reverb make it sound bad at the same time.
Hope it helped and is readable/understandable

+1
I saw a video of a guy doing a Electro bassline with the reverb/filter linked to the X/Y Controller.
I'll search the video out on youtube and post the link later.
