My computer fried on the weekend so I've been out of the forum 'loop' until now...I'm surprised there isn't already a review for Basement from last Sunday.

Can I say HOLY FREAKIN' AWESOME SOUND SYSTEM BATMAN!

I heard that a new sound system was going in, and that they had been working on it for weeks to tweak it out, but wow...so crisp and clear. No ringing in the ears, no need for ear plugs. It sounds REALLY good!

The place has been all repainted, brand new lounge couches and the DJ booth is now front and centre of the dance floor--a much better location.

I only stayed for Cam Maxwell's opening set (must have been wicked to be the first guy to officially spin on that system) and part of DJ Rudee's set (the guy's mixing is so unbelievably smooth).

Good good times. It was slowly filling in there when I left--had to rest up for the BOUND BY SOUND 2 Boat Cruise (which was also freakin' awesome).

So there you have it, the place is back, and the sound system is absolutely killer.

btw, heard Fauvrelle's remix of "Twilo" -- cheery bass lines of absolute bliss, especially on that system.

good to hear sheldon. We were coming but were at a house party very very late (i should say early ) Didn't get home till 5.30am at which time we just wanted to sleep for a couple of hours before Bound by Sound. Will definately stop by Basement in the next few weeks sometime.

I will say this...big disappointment with Addy not being there for opening. I was SO looking forward to hearing him. I know he had a lot of gigs that Sunday (bound by sound cruise, hector @ solarium), but it would have been nice to have him back rocking the place right away. I want to know when he's returning (rumour mill says two or three weeks).

Sam--the sound system should impress you. It was good seeing you on the boat later. (D-Unity: YES).

If D-unity gets booked back at Zone again, I'm there 110% !! I would love for them to get the early morning slot...tribal-insanity-bonkers.

I'm quite itching to go to Basement again. Has Kenny actually ever played there yet though? And what's up with Addy not showing up? FFS, don't put someone's name on the flyer if they aren't going to show up. And if they aren't going to show up...well fuck, someone's gonna get a cockpunch.

yeah addy was never supposed to be there. Kenny was there and did play. Really well too from what i've heard.
