Still getting used to the whole producing thing, but wanted to get some feedback on this. My attempt to do something slightly Industrial went down the Clubby path. I guess that's how it goes...

This forum has died out due to lots of people posting stuff for review and then never replying to anyone else's topics. Basically it's become a haven for spam, which is a shame because it used to be pretty good and helpful.
I've been kind of burnt out on dance music lately (been trying to produce some ambient and experimental non-dance stuff), which is why I haven't been reviewing or posting anything. I'll take a look at yours since you're from San Antonio.
Mixing and levels sound fine to me. I think it could do with a little more creativity in the arrangement, something to give it more of a distinctive touch. Right now it sounds professional but pretty standard. I'd suggest adding some synth sounds or maybe putting some effects on the vocals at different points in the track, and varying the percussion a bit more.

When did you get to San Antonio? Sucks right?

Wow, such a shame. I wish I could have taken advantage of the forum sooner.
I feel the same way about the creativity aspect. I tried to mix up the drum patterns and even after that I feel like I should be adding double kicks here and there. I filtered out the lows and laid another layer of Trent's voice with a Beat Repeat added, thinking it would sound cool...but its drowned out and not really hearable. I need to let my ears breathe and try at it again.
Thanks again for the feedback. Hit me up if you're ever doing something cool in town.

No problem.
What sequencer and synths do you use, by the way?

Strange I never noticed. Try checking out the Texas forum if you're interested in local parties.

I used Ableton and remixed the pieces that were in the pack. No original synth work on my end. I really need to get a MIDI keyboard so I can play around with some good synths.
I always liked the sound of Nord Leads (God Lives Underwater). I'd like to find some that can capture that sound.

I only think that your bass doesn't really blend with the percussion, it sound a little dry to me (bass and kick). I think you can also put a bassboost on the bass, I think it could use some more low and movement, maybe a delay or something.
Nice work on the vocals!
I think it's a nice track but could really use some work because it's pretty dry.

That's a good idea. I had rolled off some low end before compressing the kick and bassline. I can go back and lower the frequency. I'll fiddle around with that and see how it sounds.
What annoys me is that when I bring the track up to the volume that sounds good, the meters are over red. I turn the track volumes down to compensate and it loses its kick.

That's a mixing problem. What you can try to do is compress the kick and the bass, send them to a 'Group channel' (don't know which DAW you're working with) and than compress them again. It should also help them blend more.
