Shackleton - Blood On My Hands (Ricardo Villalobos' Apocalypso Now Mix)

Sample from part 1
Sample from part 2

Dubstep track remixed by minimal producer, didn't see that coming.
I can't get enough of it, I'm listening to it all the time no matter it's almost 20 minutes long.
Villalobos did an extraordinary work.
Here are the lyrics:

quote:
When I see the towers fall
It cannot be denied
That as a spectacle
It is a realization of the mind

I'm standing on a mountaintop
And letting out a scream
It's the language of the earth
It is the language of the beasts

There's no point to look behind us
We left the corpse behind
Because flesh is weak and forms break down
They cannot last forever

Your thoughts?

Bah! Samples never do a track of this length justice.

EDIT: I dunno about the lyrics so much. Could pass as Emo/Goth pretty easily. I'll have to hear the track in it's entirity to give it a fair judgement however.

Indeed, 2 minutes of low quality samples are nothing compared to a full lenght journey.

They go with the track atmosphere pretty good.

The track is really cool and dark. When I play it at home though it bores me to tears. Maybe if I heard it in a large space it would sound better.

I bought it just cuz its different

definitely.

i think i made the original thread on this track last year when it came out, and we had a big discussion on this

like many villalobos tracks, this one is open ended and villalobos lets you do what you want with it to enhance or detract from your deejay set. This isn't something you want to necessarily listen to for 18 minutes with a glass of wine, although I could, personally.

When I play this track, I play parts of it, not the whole thing. It's great to layer over things.

This track to me is as close to 'pure darkness' in a musical form as any dance music i've heard. When I mix it, it's not like I'm playing another track, it's like opening a bottle that contains the world's most terrible nightmare and just letting it seep out and envelop the room, for a time. When you play it out you can really feel the effect, especially if the space and timing in the set is right.

of course, when I deejay I always tend to use tracks in ways like this, but it's just so goddamn easy and obvious with villalobos tracks and especially this one.

That is an awesome description, and spot on too.

Love the feeling of this track just slowly taking over, like dark clouds when a storm is coming.

i used to like this so much, i had it on loop for hours while playing video-games. i like stuff like this, especially when you're busy with something that requires attention, great background music that doesn't really distract you from whatever it is you're doing.

reason i love villas productions so much
