Help with Logic 8

I'am trying to learn how to place midi notes and or audio files a few ticks before my kick ie.. the clap. Is there a way to do this in Logic 8 like in cubase? Any help would be much appreciated....

Havent used the mac version in ages, but on the PC, you hold alt while moving the object which turns the snap off.
