What do you do with old PC games?

I'm in the middle of some pre-semester cleaning and I just noticed that I have a shitload of games I probably won't ever want to play again. Most of them have boxes, manual and everything, and they still look brand new. Console games have a sale value and most vendors will gladly buy them, but no one wants used PC games, and I just hate throwing away stuff for no reason. There's probably some obscure online store that'll give me like a dollar for them, and then I'd have to go through the hassle of shipping them. Surely there must be an alternative?

Also, do old PC games go to video game heaven when you throw them away?

I still have every game i ever bought. Shit, i still have some original C64 games on tapes somewhere. Not to mention two C64s with everything (except controllers, those got broken on a monthly basis). Also my NES and SNES, gameboy ... are still packed somewhere safe just in case i ever get the urge to play them again. If it works, we dont throw shit out

I have everything too. God knows when I might want to play them again.

Unfortunately, a landfill in New Mexico.

GameStop stopped accepting buy-backs of PC games about 2 years ago. I'm betting it's because some games map their CD keys permanently to a single PC, so after it was registered, it couldn't be played anywhere else.

Not sure of any alternatives, but there has to be one.

If you know any gamers, give them away as gifts. Let someone else get some enjoyment out of them rather than throwing them away. Many people don't have $$ for new games and will be perfectly happy playing stuff that is a few years old.

What are the titles? I may want them

Too many to list, but here's a couple you're most likely to be interested in;

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident
Warhammer 40k Gold: Dawn of War + Winter Assault
Rainbow Six 3: Gold Edition (contains athena sword)
Doom 3
Neverwinter Nights Platinum Edition (contains both expansions)
Kotor
Kotor 2
Star Wars: Battlefront

Mine are all on a shelf still, with the boxes in my room piled window-high for about 4 feet. I love my old games, and when I come home during summer, install them back and rape again.

The Sims
SimTower
SimAnt
SimCopter
SimFarm
Majesty
Zoombinis
Civ 4

and waaaaay more

I always regretted getting nexus. There's just something unappealing about the gameplay pace of "click a button, go make a sandwich, come back and see the results".

Man, those are some good games...especially KOTOR 1 & 2. You can literally play through those 20 times each and still not see everything there is to see. They are worth keeping for sure. You can go back to them in five years and have a completely fresh experience.

As for the others, I'm not a fan of those type of games but they all got good reviews. You should give them away to other gamers you know..or a little brother if you have one. If you don't know anyone who will play them, take them to a pawn shop and you'll probably get $20 for the lot.
