Smiley DJ Amp/Speakers (Not on a budget)

Well, the question has been posed as to what cheap speakers to buy, but what if you want something with a little power? I have no idea what brands of amp/speaker are good/reliable etc. I am looking for pro speakers (not home audio) that can be put on stands and an amp that can power them without any fear of overheating etc..

Thanks for any help or suggestions, I just really don't know where to start. I really am not on a budget, but I doubt I can afford the absolute top of the line equipment.

i just picked up a Gemini XPB-1600 amp and sooner or later (when i can afford them) im gonna buy my friend's Gemini GSM-3200 speakers.. they put out about 600watts each and the amp can more than handle that.. i haven't heard the sound but if you can't afford to buy some Mackie or Cerwin Vega speakers, u might want to look into gemini, not like you need some professional club system.. unless you are.. but i've seen the speakers for about $550 a pair and the amp is about $450..

just buy the JBL Eon G2 15
they should be enough. And they are active, so you dont need an amp

the mackies are nicer yes...but they tend to go thermal...and then you have bookends

I have tested both speakers the two guys before me mentioned. Both in party situations, and it turns out i liked the Makie SRM-450's better. You can pump these A LOT more without a JBL warning light coming on. These Mackies also provide higher souynd quality.. they also more compact (still big though). But if these weren't on the market, next choice would BE the Eon G2's.

If i was you, i would choose the SRM-450's over the Eon G2's as they are around the same price. Both are definately worth your money but the Mackies take your dollar further...

even though the mackies sell for more, (hence more for the comission) Ive been urged to go fro the 15 G2, simply because of their venting.

Have you heard of the mackies going thermal?

Shame / Disagreement JBL?

That's what I first was going to buy, but I was turned off by many people. They say JBLs either overheat or sounds like crap. Why JBL?

Smiley DJ Thank you

Thanks for backing it up! I will be checking into the Mackies and JBLs. Now what about an amp to power this stuff?

thats the joy of Active speakers, you dont use an amp. you run straight from the line out into the speaker itself.

and the JBL G2 Speakers WILL NOT over heat...unless you crank em full volume for like 20 hours.(at which point you will be VERY deaf)

the mackies will over heat tho.
The reason the JBLs wont is that while the sub is pushing air out, venting in the front of the speaker takes that very same air and uses it to cool itself
