i'm trying to get a group to remix a song for me, they want $600. i'm not complaining. i'm going to pay it... i was just wondering if this is what I should expect for future remixes as well... or if this is a great price... if anyone knows anything about how much groups or people charge for remixes, please let me know.

I dont understand.. you will pay them 600 after you actually like the remix.. or you will pay them before they start working on your song?

I am not into music business.. I dont know how things work in here. So pardon.

i know i'll love the mix... it's a group i've been into for years (Dismantled), and he wanted $300 to reserve time for the track to be remixed this year (instead of someone else's), then $300 upon completion and delivery of the remix.

From a friend producer, Lisaya, I know this is normal these days. 500-1000 Euro also are nothing strange over here.
Sometimes they make a deal by remixing eachothers tracks.

Reason to pay is that making a decent remix takes a lot of time and time is money...

Make sure you have something in writing that states they MUST COMPLETE the remix. If you give them half before they've even started, then don't meet the deadline, you'd want your money back.

There's loads of good producers willing to do a remix without money upfront, and we've had quite a few productions / remixes already.

It all depends on how 'big' the person / group in question is (or how big they think they are) and on his / her / their personality.

the simple fact that they only want half upfront, that they're someone you respect etc, makes me say that u should just go with it if that's what you want

Trance is gonna end up just like football. Alot of money / business, no passion.
