I have a pair of M-Audio BX5's. Not exactly top of the line but they do the trick for me.

Well... This doesn't sound good, to me at least. I would have to hear them in action though, but this is not the kind of thing I'd want in a monitor. But then again, it might work well.

DSP...agreed Beyer, agreed. Look at the picture of the backside of the thing. Despite it being DSP, you seem to be locked into their frequencies and magnitudes. I still don't like rear ports. Aluminum woofer, not a fan, but I won't judge until I hear it.

I would still put my money on a pair of Event Type 28s.

My friends got the BX8a Deluxe monitors for $499 for the pair and I was pretty impressed with them. I am considering getting a pair they were that good IMO, especially for the price.

they're excellent, only thing i'd choose over them in a similar price range is a pair of events. $499 is an incredible steal too.
