Well, since you're asking whether you want an Xbox or PS2, the answer is simple:PS2. Aside from Halo, Xbox has nothing thats groundbreaking...maybe Project Ego, but thats not out, and so far its all talk. Nobody has had enough time to play that game and say it will be groundbreaking. Xbox has better graphics, but graphics don't make a game. Both have the ability to play DVD's, but with Xbox, you will also have to buy a remote control that will "enable" that feature. In 5-6 years, most gamers will be playing PS3 and the new Nintendo system, whatever it'll be called.
I, for one, have a different dilemma. PS2 or Gamecube. Metroid Prime is making me drool all over, but the fact that MGS2 is still on PS2 is holding me back from getting a Cube...there is the possibility of getting MGS2 Substance for PC...but, it just won't be the same, playing a console game on a PC. Just like with MGS1 on PC, so many of the cool features were gone, like the way you beat Mantis.
Before you buy anything, I suggest you read a bit on the PS2 and Gamecube. Cube's are $229 Canadian now, and it's a great system. Like I mentioned in a previous thread in this forum, Metroid Prime, all the new single player Resident Evil's, Eternal Darkness, Too Human, Perfect Dark (hopefully it'll come out) are gonna be amazing game's...and the current flock of PS2 games are kickin ass as well, GTA3, MGS2, Devil May Cry and Silent Hill 2 more specifically.
And yeah, Nintendo is completely owning E3...even though I was hoping for more Sega announcements for Gamecube...
