I just stumbled across this today. I've always been a fan of 2D shootemups or "shmups" as they are called by some so it was nice to see something like this on the PC. The only other good high quality shooter on the PC that I was aware of before discovering this was Raiden III. This game looks awesome but I'm a bit disappointed with the lame weapons and repetitive enemies. They could have used a little more variety. Still its worth checking out if you like this rather dying genre of game. They are porting it to the PS3 soon as well. Below are a few screenshots.

At least the graphics look nice.
I'll give it a go when I've got some more time on my hands.

In total agreement here. I so wish more high quality shooters of Raiden III's caliber made it to the PC. Raiden III is short indeed only 7 levels right? I tilt my 24" LCD vertically to play Raiden III and seeing almost 2 feet tall worth of shooter goodness takes me back to the arcade days so its something I'll keep on playing.
thanks for re-awakening my love for shooters! i found a shmup site and now i have heaps of recommendations (though most of them are pretty old games now).
definitely a shame we dont see more titles on the PC, but im thinking of getting a dreamcast emulator just so i can play ikaruga

You could do this but why not just buy a Dreamcast? They are dirt cheap and easy to come by. The crazy thing is games were STILL coming out for the Dreamcast up until 2007 when probably the best vertical shooter was released on it called "Under Defeat." The game is amazing as far as shooters go and its quality is up there with Raiden III. Also you've got Ikaruga, Mars Matrix, Gigawings 1 and 2, and many more I can't remember right off the top of my head.
The best part about all of this is that most models of the Dreamcast can play burnt games right out of the box so all you need to do is find the ISO of your favorite DC game and burn it and your off playing. Its totally worth buying a DC for!
