Hey guys,

On Sept 14th I'm heading to London to play a couple gigs. I have friends there that are going to help me out in terms of gettig around, etc etc... I plan on leavign those friends and touring around on my own and for my second week (around Sept 23ish) I plan on going to Ibiza to check out some of the closing parties. I'm either going to be going to Ibiza from London, or Paris depending on if I go to Paris to see a friend. Can anyone give me some good advice on where I should stay, how I should get there (flight or ferry cause I've seen both are avail) and anything else that I may have to deal with. Thanks in advance.

Hey Ryan, London is the most most expensive place on earth, closely followed by Ibiza. The CA dollar won't go far so save your money for Ibiza as it will be worth it, and London isn't. Don't try to go to Ibiza from London on a ferry (it will take like 24 hours as opposed to 2). Google "flight centre" in london (they are a chain) and Thomas Cook (online). They have always worked out cheapest for flights to Ibiza. The cheapest ones are always at crap times (like 3am).

If you want to go to paris first, then the eurostar (train) from London to paris is wicked, and often much cheaper + faster than flying (once you calculate getting to from any london airport and from the CDG Paris to the centre). Then you'll need a flight from Paris to Ibiza, which I would use those ones I mentioned above.

For getting around London, buy an oyster (travel) card. If you're going to be using public transport (much easier than a car in London) the buy a weekly travel card (on your oyster) - it will save you a shitload compared to buying individual/return tickets, and depending which zones you get it for, will let you travel all over London, on busses and trains for that whole week, unlimited. Ask the poepl you are staying with to help you with this.

As for staying in Ibiza, if you're going cheap, then you'll probably end up in a basic hotel (like 2* or 3*) in San Antonio, which is fine as you'll be able to get to most of the big clubs without too much hassle. You could stay in Ibiza town too (which is centrally located) but it will cost you more. I wouldn't recommend staying on the north east or south east of the island. It's beautiful, but you are far from everything if you're going out there for clubbing and bars. Basically anywhere west or central-ish will be fine. If you've got money to burn look at an apartment in Ibiza Town, Villa (just about anywhere), or one of the 5* star hotels (Pikes, the new Pacha Hotel etc.). IMO, they aren't worth it though, and they costs like 250 euros a night minimum, even end of season.

Hey, thanks very much for your message DJ Rann. I hadn't much response on this topic so I have done quite a bit of searching and booking since I posted it. Funny you mention not taking a ferry to ibiza because I was having a nightmare of a time finding a flight (I guess things are booking up fast due to the closing parties). Just as I was about to book a ferry ticket, I was told to check out clickair. I ended up getting a flight with them for like 260 Euro's for two people. Pretty close to what I was going to pay for the ferry. We leave out of Barcelona.

Apart from that, I'm using Ryanair to get from Paris to barcelona, the Eurostar to get from London to Paris ( haven't booked that yet, how much should that normally cost? I've been seeing prices upwards of 200 euro's?????) In Ibiza, I'm staying at Fiesta in Den Bossa. My buddies were there a few weeks ago and they recommended it. Was nice and cheap too, 344 euro's for 4 nights incl breakfast and dinner...sweet!

Since most of my stuff is booked, I do have one question, most of my bookings were done online. I have all the confirmation info etc, but wondered if anyone has ever been screwed by bad reservations. Should I maybe make phone calls to verbally confirm things or do I just have faith in the online systems.

Glad to hear you got it worked out. Your plan seems good, ryanair is cheap, no frills, but at least usually very reliable. Don't worry about the airlines'/eurostar online reservation, they are solid, but always call the hotel to confirm the reservation (and make sure you get a name).
I've had problems before and this was the difference between getting a room and sleeping rough. playa den bossa is great, you're near the clubs and the beach is good, if a little busy. The deal you got is great. Eurostar should cost less than 200 euros, but they do screw you sometimes if you're not booking far in advance. Don't do weekends -it's waaay more expensive and stay away from rush hours (believe it or not some people actually commute every day). Thursday is usually the cheapest day so look for anytime after 10am or 8pm. That should make it at lot cheaper.

Also, make sure you take a rain mac - London has had the worst summer for 80 years and last time I was in Ibiza, a tropical storm hit and the entire island was flooded.
