Sri Lankan cricket team attacked by terrorists
On the way to the 3rd day of their Test against Pakistan in Lahore (Pakistan), the team's bus, umpire's cars and security vehicles have been attacked by up to 12 terrorists. Reports of grenades in additino to assault rifles. Also reports of car bombs in the area near the stadium.
The attack lasted for 15 minutes.
Reports of at least 6 policeman/security personnel and 2 others killed, including the driver of the team bus.
6 players have been injured including Jayawardene, Sangakkara and Vaas. Samaraweera and Paravitarana were the ones most seriously injured and have been taken to hospital but are apparently fine, not life threatening. Mendis was the other player injured. The reserve umpire Raza was also injured.
Other reports of the team being threatened yesterday, so the route for the bus was changed for today in response, but to no avail.
