Sensation Quebec (w/ Tiesto) Review
In a word : WOW ! (and Tiesto : TIESTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO )
Already back in Montreal (the event is still going on lol..) but for us it was more for Tiesto that we went, more on that below...
I've been doing raves/EDM clubbing for 10 years now, and I can say that this one will be amongst the best one i've been.
All that went wrong at Bal en Blanc went flawlessly at Sensation Quebec...
The entry was IMMEDIATE. We were there at 21h30, there was a big line, but when the doors opened, the people got vaccumed inside, don't know how they did it but damn that was fast ! I was on the dance floor at 22h ! Good job !
The venue was good for that event; big enough and no bathrooms problems, I spotted a bathroom at a far extremity and was able to get in / get out in 5 min
SOUND : Nice ! We were in the front and it was great, no distorsion and clear sound... a bit low on the back but like I said mainly staid in front.
LIGHTS : WOWWWWWW ! Now that's something ! Pretty nice sets of lights, strobes, etc. + the giant screen behind the DJ (more for Tiesto, see below...)
DJ's :
DJ KID : well, was ok to listen to, good warmup, but won't go to history. I found the guy to try a bit too hard on the crowd interaction thing, like cool down man you're DJ Kid
Marco G : I liked the guy attitude; nice interaction at the right level. There was a small problem of water coming from the ceiling on the CD decks, and they moved all the DJ booth stuff (decks, speakers) couple feets away and the guy was really cool with it. On the music side, was ok, great mixing, but I found it to be a little slow for a "warmup set".
TIESTO : Showed up a 1h45 and stayed until 5h45, yep 4 hours ! I went because I rembered the Tiesto from 2000/2001 era and wanted a glimpse of that back... waaaaaaaa I got a lot more. The giant screen on the back (a bit like on the elements of life DVD) was used a lot. First part of the set was a "In search of sunrise" set, mainly tracks from ISOS 6 ans ISOS 7. Beautiful blend and very nice to listen too... I liked "Hide and seek" alot live + a lot more (can't remember them all...) Then, after 2 hours of ISOS or so he went to the "The sound of Tiesto" part of the set, and BANG classics after classics.. I COULD NOT believe it (in no particular order) : Lethal Industry, Elements of life, Dance 4 Life, Urban train, SILENCE (ahhhhhhh), traffic, in the dark, adagio for strings, Just be... I was jumping around like a kid And then, for the last hour, Tiesto mixed more upbeat tracks and killed it to the last minute.
We then left for the road back and time to go to bed... This one goes on the records. Good job to the organization + Tiesto & Tiesto's crew (lights guys are crazy).
