Why does it keep drifting when I beatmatch? Help!

Ok so I have the songs beatmatched and after like 16 bars it starts drifting bad!

Does this mean the songs are not beat matched properly? How do I now they are? Should the golden rule be once I start song B I should only have to slightly adjust the pitch? If I have to do a lot of adjusting past the 16 bar it's not beatmatched?

Thank you!

Thx and thx for the words of encouragement hehe..

Ok so when I bring in song B it should be pretty much perfectly beatmatched and require minimum adjustment?

that's usually the common goal with beatmatching... you match the beats

Learning how to pitch bend until you can lock the beat might help a little. Don't just leave it like that if it starts drifting. Practice will help you hear it start to drift way before anyone else can since you have headphones.

Basically yeah. Once you bring in the second track, you only want to have to make very slight adjustments so the crowd doesn't hear any major pitch bending or double beats.

honestly, no sarcasm here

if you're still drifting and having to ask questions on a forum...

do you honestly feel ready to take on a gig? (although granted we're not informed as to what kind of gig this is)

i'm just saying, sometimes djs try to get gigs too early and play out before they're ready, seen this happen way too many times to count

playing a bad gig your first time out can do more damage to your rep than you imagine

just throwing that out there...

if you feel you're ready, make sure you practice and feel confident, cause if you feel confident and portray that across, the crowd can pick up on that
