Selling my old 3Ghz-worth trying Cubase VST System link before?
I do really need to try VST System link on my PC with my new PC before I sell it, but just wanted to check other peoples experiences as I've heard its pretty useless...
Nah. With today's CPUs, it's not worth the hassle. Get yourself a nice quad (or even the upcoming oct) core CPU and you'll have more processing power than you'll know what to do with.

Ok, yea I've actually upgraded to a quad core Intel 9450, I did start reaching its limits (very high limit) and wondered if it was worth using the second PC for CPU-eating reverb or something.

You must have some massive projects going on!? I recently sold my quad and got an E8500 (3.16Ghz) and the projects that were having issues with the quad are now not even close to danger and some of these projects are massive and include Ableton running as a slave pretty loaded as well. I've never tried system link but have used FX Teleport to try to harness the power of another PC and found it all to be too much of a hassle.
Wich cubase version are you running? Just thought because Cubase SX2 and below doesn't support multi-core, wich means you're maybe just using one of your four cores in cubase..

Its SX3 so I know it support Multi-core.
I dont know really, I just run FX on allot of channels with VST's playing and I can get it to clip, tbf thats with about 10 VST's running and FX like Altiverb on a few channels, not all playing at the same time maybe but thought if I could get more power - why not.
Savings not a problem, saves in seconds, loving the power tbf.
