Alcala - Why So Serious?

Hey yall,

I finished this track about 2 weeks ago and finally got it online this week. As you guessed, it samples from the 'Dark Knight' soundtrack and some Joker quotes I grabbed from the trailers. I'm really happy with all the original parts I made too. This is the first "original" (meaning I didn't use remix contest parts from say Sasha, BT or King Unique) song I've actually finished too so that's an accomplishment

Would love to hear feedback from everyone. I put the myspace link for a quick listen and if you want the full 320 version, just download it at the bottom.

With the way youve laid out the post , looks like your not after production tips , just feedback so here goes:-

Personally , a trance remix would be better ,more driving than a techy/industrial mix youve gone for , maybe a hard dance tune would more suit this.

The bassline would sound pretty sweet with an 4x4 hard kick and percs i think , but thats my opinion ,

good luck

Love the "Im a man of my word" part. Fits in tune with the tempo. I like the harder and faster stuff more, but I still like this track. It's got a dark aura, which suits the Joker, so good job there. I hear a quiet violin in the background. Where did you get that from? the soundtrack? I've got the soundtrack because I was planning on using soundclips from the orchestra in my next track and I think I recognize some of the sounds you used. Would like to have heard more of the lead coming through at 5:41.

Hey Adi, I appreciate the advice. Perhaps it might work better as a trance remix but I don't make trance so that isn't really possible hehe.

Hey Glassball, yeah I also used a lot of orchestral sounds from the soundtrack. It's really an amazing score and was really fun to cut up and find parts to use for this. Yeah the lead sound at 5:41 is very cool sounding but when I tried layering it with the beat or other sounds it got a bit overwhelming/confusing I thought so I just let it in as the sort of climax and then dropped it. Goodluck on your version as well. I'd be curious to hear that when you finish

Thanks guys!

yeah!
haha pretty good men, work on the vocals plus the track its pretty good to

i think that more percs on some parts will make the track better, more "airs" Fx and elements that complete your track would be perfect

nice idea you got here
now its time to work more on it
