MSZ - Again (Original mix) soundcloud [Progressive]

Proggie track still a work in progress, looking to add a piano to thee breakdown, but ive been jamming away and still cant get what i want to happen there. Im not very good with subtle effects throughout, and i realize it could drastically help the track out. However, track gets me grooving, so im quite into it myself.

hope you leave me a comment

Dude I actually like it. That is from a compositional perspective. To be dead honest with you the track is good. It reminds me of bedrock releases. Here is the problem. The mix and the sounds you are using suck.
If simon nobble was mixing this it would be banging. If John Creamer Stephane K were mixing this the track would be smoking. If martin buttrich was mixing it it would be a killer prog track! If Hybrid were mixing it would sound awesome! If Satoshi tommie was mixing this it would be of the hook! Hell even if stel was mixing it would steal be great (get it? Steal=still ) But the way it sounds now... it is not ready for commercial release which is a shame coz the track itself has great potential. No lie!

What I like:
The groove, the arrangment, the music itself.

What I don't like: Pretty much all of the samples and patches except the bass (which is good )

The kick sounds too harsh find another sample, the synth you are using is washed in reverb.
The mix is blurry. Stuff fighting for sonic space ect ect...

Still there is a good track under there...

If was jocking when I mentioned all these producers but these people have been making music since the 90s of course you can't compete with them.

What can you do:

Take a audio engineering class.
Upgrade the synths/DAW you are using.
Spend more time trying out drum sounds (Dont settle for the first sound you come accross)
Pay the $40 a track to have your track mastered by a real studio. Your mix will go through a de-shitifing process by an audio professional that has alot of credits and at least one grey hair on his scalp and will also get the vintage gear treatment and pass through expensive tube eqs like the GLM ect ect and it will sound better.

Alternatively find a studio with a person that has experience mixing and let him pull the rabbit out the hole

As it is...

Track=

Mix=

thanks for the feedback, perhaps i can improve exponentially one day.
Will try to be more cautious about sound selection, although i make most of sounds from scratch, and work getting certain sounds characteristics.

You are welcome Would love to hear it mixed properly. As it is it still needs alot of work before it is released (the sounds and mixing sucks) but musically speaking is still is a good track

I like the track and it does need a lot of work. I don't think there's anything wrong with the choice of sounds at all and all the improvements can be made in the mix. It sounds like nothing has been panned left and right yet, and also have you low cut or EQd any of the channels?

Musically it's good.

It'll come, it takes time

The most important thing is to give each sound it's own space in frequncy and stereo field.

As with everything else it takes plenty of practise

Musically speaking, I like the track.

My comments are going to be along the same lines as everybody elses, but overall I don't think the mix is bad. It just needs more added to it, but you already know this judging by your previous comments.

I don't really think that you need to worry about the panning, sure, panning adds dynamics, but I like to do that with the percussion. With prog house, I think most of the sounds should be in the middle -- they just need to fit together well.

As for effects, you don't have to go crazy with them, I would say that some white noise sweeps, and some delayed/reverbed crashes and stuff like that would do well. Maybe some melodic sweeps? It's really all up to you.

I'm at about the same stage as you, maybe a little bit better, maybe a little bit worse, but I know it can be very frustrating, so goddamn frustrating!

Keep at it, I like the track.
