Record storage...

I have 3 flight cases packed full of vinyl and I'm looking for a better way to store my records at home. I want to be able use the cases for what they're designed: transporting vinyl.

I've seen the felt covered record bins online, and they look nice, but the prices are pretty hefty.

What does everyone recommend to store their vinyl? I want something a little nicer than plastic crates, but I don't want to spend too much money (have to save it for more vinyl! )

Any ideas?

dammit, i'm trying to look for plastic cases and i dont know where to start. Someone told me to just jack it from the supermarkets, but do they really let you walk out the door with those? i've checked Office Depot for some cheap alternatives, but i havent been able to find any. I'd build my own but that requires me shopping for materials and that's kinda unnecessary if i can some plastic crate already made!

my Suggestion would be to pick up some plywood, the good pine kind or whatever, and just build a shelf system of 12" squares that would look something like this:

+------+------+------+------+
|''''''|''''''|''''''|''''''|
|''''''|''''''|''''''|''''''|
+------+------+------+------+
|''''''|''''''|''''''|''''''|
|''''''|''''''|''''''|''''''|
+------+------+------+------+

I mean its pretty simple, just some wood and screws you dont even have to put a back on it. should cost no more than 60$ USD

milk crates! you gotta get the extra-wide ones though...

milk crates, for all you storage needs.

i have friend who stores everything in milk crates: shoes, books, papers, everything. and of course records.

I just use some plain black milk crates that I got at K-Mart for like $2.99. Only bad thing was going to K-Mart, made me feel dirty and poor. What a trashy store.

LMAO!!

I ripped off a milk crate from BEHIND the grocery store. where the trucks drop stuff off you know? there were tons of them sitting there, i just grabbed one and threw it in my trunk.

and yeah, it's a canadian one.. but, it's ok, the vinyls fit, just not perfectly straight. they go at a bit of an angle, which is no big deal, because my records don't even fill it up yet.

that won't bend my records will it? sometimes they fall over and lean on each other.
