Looks okay, but $900? Used Xone 3D's are selling for $1400ish, which is definitely worth the extra price. Or you could buy my used Korg Zero 8 for a few hundred more, hehehe.

$799.00 DJ Deals
$899.86 Hard to find Records
£599.00 DJstore

That piece equipment not cheap IMO. That's if the companies in question are right on the price when i google it.

I can get Vestax VCM-100 for around $400 to $500 and that cheaper yet then what we see and is there first model of it.

That is pretty hot, but I'm not so sure it's $900 hot.

Ok folks, it's not even shipping yet. The "real" price might be a bit cheaper.

For ableton, this thing stomps ALL OVER the Xone 3D. The layout is nearly perfect for ableton, and it's even labeled with labels that match functions in ableton (obviously you can remap, but it's pretty much the way I'd want it the way it is).

The problem with the Xone 3D and ableton is:

1. Mixing "in the box" (in software) using the MIDI sections sucks. There's not enough knobs for eq'ing plus effects, etc, AND mixing. Take a look at some sample layouts people have put out on the net... stuff is mapped all over the place due to layout constraints.

2. If you forgo number 1, and mix "out of the box" (using the Xone 92-like analog portion in the middle), the soundcard only has 3 stereo outputs... A 3 channel limit (with one used for cueing) in ableton is pretty lame.

3. The MIDI has too much latency.

4. The soundcard has dropout issues.

This is why I sold mine. Now the Xone 4D basically corrects all these problems, as long as you're fine mixing "out of the box"... which I actually prefer, coming from "real" DJ mixers. If I had the 4D now I'd probably just use it with Traktor, however, as personally I feel that mixer is better suited to the traditional DJ paradigm.

The VCM-600 lets you do everything in software and use whatever soundcard you like. You really only need a 4 out soundcard (one for master, one for cue). But it's really suited for strict ableton use.

Apparently Sasha's Maven is due to be announced soon... don't know who's manufacturing it though.

Where'd you hear that? Through the grapevine or was there an online source? (Just curious )

exactly what ryan said, the xone:3d has more flaws for digital mixing than most controllers aimed at that side of the market. the midi section is pretty cramped, 2 knobs a channel was a really bad idea, you need at LEAST 3 for those that would rather want to program their own EQ section than use the A&H one. the sound card is crap, 3 channels on a 4 channel mixer (lol?). it may not be that big of a deal to some people who are doing the regular a-b mixing with some effect usage but, to those that are use to using 4 channels and need that extra channel, it gets annoying and confusing.

this is beautiful, from the layout to the look, it's awesome. now, i'm confused about one thing, i've been reading some forums and i can't seem to get a lot of info on this thing at all, so here's my question to you Ryan - does it have motorized faders? i've been seeing people talk about it but i'm not sure if it does or doesn't. if it does, that would be tremendous, would provide a HUGE impact on my mixing.

hopefully this goes down in price by the time it's released, will purchase it if it's somewhere in a decent price-range to use along side the xone and lemur

The VCM-600 was released at NAMM last year....still waiting to hear about actual production and price on this thing. But yeah, it seems like the only good Ableton controller on the market.

Well it was this year, in January

I don't think it has motorized faders.
