7-Yr-Old Kid Goes On Zoo Destroying Rampage In Australia
| quote: | It's hard to figure out exactly why this happened, but a zoo in the remote area of Alice Springs, Australia is pondering a lawsuit against a family, after a 7-year-old boy almost singlehandedly destroyed the place in an unbelievable rampage of destruction last week.
It happened at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre, the home to exotic animals like crocodiles, turtles, lizards and other creatures.
Security footage shows this modern day Dennis the Menace breaking into the facility through a fence around 8am last Wednesday, picking up several smaller beasts and deliberately delivering them into the jaws of a 3-metre long, 220 kilogram, 440 lbs. saltwater crocodile named "Terry."
Over and over, the kid is seen snatching up the defenceless creatures and turning them into lunch for the sharp toothed predator.
By the time he was done, the zoo had lost a turtle, four western blue tongue lizards, two bearded dragons, two thorny devil lizards and a 5'9" adult female Spencer's goanna.
He also bludgeoned a small blue tongue lizard and two more thorny devils, who avoided the croc's waiting mouth but not a terrible death.
The Centre claims most of the animals were mature and will be almost impossible to replace. They also say the young lad had a big smile on his face almost the entire time he was creating so much havoc.
Cops quickly tracked down the child, who clammed up and refused to answer any questions about what he'd done or the reasons behind his actions.
The zoo's director, however, wasn't quite so reticent about giving his opinion. "The fact a 7-year-old can wreak so much havoc in such a short time, it's unbelievable. In my day he'd get a big boot up the arse," centre director Rex Neindorf responded, in what surely must be one of the quotes of the year.
He admits it's amazing the boy himself didn't wind up a victim of his own mischief, somehow avoiding the crocodile's never ending hunger for more flesh.
The Centre is now considering suing the child's parents, since under Aussie law, he can't be placed under arrest. "Police found him, but in the Northern Territory here he can't be accountable if he's under 10 years of age," Neindorf laments. |
