Ayn Rand is such a phenomenal writer that you begin to lose sight of how crap her political philosophy is.

Ah, I'm gonna start reading The Fountainhead after I finish Kafka's The Trial.

I preferred The Fountainhead to Atlas Shrugged, but it made me spend two years in admiration of Objectivism without any idea how silly it is.

Yeah man Atlas Shrugged is mindblowing...my favorite novel of all time. I couldn't put it down. Even if you don't agree with her philosophy, your outlook on the world will change when you finish it.

Yep. Beyond her philosophy there are a lot of ideas that are really inspiring.
Hank Rearden was definitely my favourite character.

Yep, major crush on this book. Some parts are rather self-indulgent, but for the most part I loved it. Changed my life.

Every professional philosopher I've seen only mentions Ayn Rand when they're criticising her ideas for being too amateurish or something. Even Alan Greespan was criticised lately for taking her seriously, and paving the way to this current recession. Still, people love her.
Sometimes I think Ayn Rand is the American Paulo Coelho or something

LOL! Nice comparison. I personally can't stand pretentious writers, so I appreciate dudes like Coelho who keep it simple.

Hehe, I've never read any of his books, but he's often praised by his readers for his simplicity (never read Rand either). It's funny, however, that the person Paulo Coelho (different from the author Paulo Coelho) think of himself as a superstar, probably because of the insane amount of criticism aimed at him from literature departments all over the country
I reckon I should read at least one of their books one day.
Out of sheer curiosity: How do you guys say his name in English? Kew-AY-li-oh?
