How do I clean these records?

Google's help is sparse and this seemed like the forum most likely to be able to provide an answer.

While cleaning out my garage, I found several records left by the previous owner. These plates are caked in dirt, grime, and other pollutants but the surface of the record itself looks pretty good under all that mess. What is the best way to clean these records?

Someone suggested a dishwasher but admittedly has no expertise on the subject. I'd prefer to leave the labels intact. Is there a preferred type of solution i can soak the dirty parts it before wiping them with a clean cloth? Or is there some other method I haven't found.

Record cleaning fluid works well and can be found at most good record stores. I think it is much the same as lighter fluid so that might be a cheaper alternative.

lighter fluid is too strong, and will damage your records! Use technical or lab-grade isopropyl alcohol and not the rubbing kind

It's actually an older cleaning brush called the Discwasher. I have it. It works very well.

You can also buy vacuum machines that soaks the disc in fluid, then vacuums out the liquid from the grooves. I've never used one, but I hear good things.

Apparently wood pouring wood glue all over the surface of the record and waiting for it to dry works really well. It doesn't stick to the record at all, but the wood glue becomes attached to anything that was on the record. Saw someone do it really successfully in a different forum. I could find the link if you want to look into it.
