cdj-200 problems

So, I have noticed that lately I will be in the middle of a transition and the deck from which I am mixing in will randomly skip ahead a few frames causing the beats to be out of sync. It has become increasingly annoying because I kind of a perfectionist and if I listen to my recording that the beats go out of sync for a second I will scratch it and remix it (recording personal mixes and promos).

Has anyone experienced this with any of the CDJ decks? I don't really know what it could be, since I presume that the CDJ's buffer the songs, so I don't think it is really a disc issue? Currently I am using CD-RW discs with MP3s, I guess I can try burning them to a CD-R.

They are out of warranty so I don't really know what to do. I've had them for like 3 years, I guess I could upgrade but I don't see the need other than this glitch.

Hmm, make sure they are on a level surface. That's my only suggestion.

does this happen with a particular track? Maybe you just got a crappy copy of a track.

I would also try burning on CD-R instead, and try burning it at a slow speed, and as audio.

Don't really use CDJs myself so not sure what's causing this problem. But wonder if there's any way of being able to clean the lenses for the lasers? Much like a head cleaner for tapes?

Use a different CD to burn to. Avoid rewritables.

Use a slower speed to burn.

Use different PC to do the burning.

These logical steps, taken one at a time will help you isolate what the problem is.

My guess is that it's probably not your CDJs, more than likely the media you are using or the burning method.

I heard that those are actually damaging for CDJs due to the fact of how fast the cds spin inside a CDJ compared to a regular CD player.

Well, I re-did the mix last night with the tracks burnt to CD-Rs and i never noticed any frame jumping during the transitions.

Bummer though either their exists a problem still and I didnt hear it or windows got lame on me and screwed up the buffer recording because I heard some skipping in one point. I think this is windows though. So, back to burning all my stuff to CD-Rs.

Thanks guys.

When I am done with a tracklist I just erase the disc and re-use it.

I guess i can only do that so much before the cdj's can't read from them very well.

Are you playing from mp3 files burned to disc? The CDJ-200, in my experience, sucks for playing mp3s.

I get a similar problem. Sometimes when I hit play (after cueing a track), a few seconds into the track, it'll skip a few frames and I gotta adjust. BUT, it doesn't do it a second time. It's happened a few times and I can get around it by playing my cued track in my headphones until i hear the skip, then i know it wont happen again.

I burn with CD-R, slowest burn speed, undamaged cds. I dont know, not really a huge deal cause it doesn't happen very often. Just thought I'd point out I have a similar issue.
