Lee Jones - Electronic Frank

Anybody give this a listen yet? Hopefully I can find a hard copy to purchase this week. I wouldn't mind hearing thoughts from people who have listened to this album.

There is nothing, I repeat, absolutely NOTHING about this album that is minimal.

How on Earth anyone would call this minimal is an utter fucking mystery to me.

Some tracks maybe sounds abit housey, others deep techno, but listening to the whole thing, the concept, yep, it's minimal. where's the mystery?

Is it a house, deep techno album, and i didn't know?

No, it isn't, and you clearly don't even know what conceptual minimalism is.

Minimal (Click)

And to be honest, I'd even hesitate to call that proper minimal as far as the initial conceptual art movement known as minimalism is concerned - but likely the closest thing you'll find to it in the world of EDM.

It's also probably fair to note that the bulk (if not all) of what the folks at Beatport decide to label "minimal", isn't.

Well, first we can start with the classic example John Cage 4'33".

But beyond that, it isn't about being an "electronic expert", it's about understanding what conceptual minimalism was/is in the first place, and how that concept doesn't really apply to what most people refer to as minimal when it comes to electronic music.

And you don't have to be an expert to learn about it, as a matter of fact any asshole or idiot is welcome to use the search function on Wikipedia to at least find a jumping off point for learning about just about anything.

I'll even do the hard work for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimalism_music

We're not here talking about what minimalism in music is.

But the better definition of this album.

I bet the most here agree with me.

And thanks for expanding my knowledge with wiki links.

You know, you can't compare the so called "minimal" in electronic music scene with the old/classic minimalism stuff.
