Anyone guilty of hearing someone's choice of two mixed tracks and copying it? I did it before, felt really guilty, but the way they mixed the tracks together was wonderful and I just had to recreate it with friends.
Also, once you've heard a track on someone's mix, do you tend to stay away from it after? I've had the idea of using some tracks on a mix but sometimes people beat me to the punch. I think the track is fucking awesome and fits perfectly with what I've worked on, but it feels that the track might be stale if few have already showcased it.

its dirty, but widely done.
chances are most people who do this do not put enough effort in to find those awesome combos themselves. Nightly jam sessions plus labeling where the song "pops" can lead to much awesomeness. That is just me though.
i dont think its wrong at all.. hell i'd even go as far as take someones mix comp, if they do some special ableton edit that i love and wouldnt be able to do myself.. i'd use it... but i'd always give credit

if someone put out a promo that was exactly like a comp release, would it not be gay?
That's why when I said that in Fabric 41, when Luciano put Arabesque at the very end, it was lame, as Felix da Housecat had done so earlier in his GU comp. The track that came before was not the same but the way they were just sort of randomly faded in and the fact that they were the closing track makes it looks very similar. Nobody agreed with me though.

i'm sure about 1000 deejays also have ended with that track at some point.
it's not exactly a really creative or hard-to-find choice to begin with

When I heard Squillace mixing Mamba Drums and Thrill together I knew I had to jack that. I feel a little bad, but it isn't like anyone in San Antonio likes Techno anyway.
