I haven't heard proper dance music this fucking good since Digweed and Cattaneo @ Guvernemt a couple years back. And this topped it.
Track selection was fucking ACE, reminded me so much of the shanghai compilation he did for Global Underground, there were so many tracks that had the melodic rhythms of Yvel & Tristan productions with soft vocals over top, which I absolutely love.
I've never seen Nick Warren live, and I think I'm going to have to say he's a LOT better live than he is on commercial releases. Holy SHIT, easily one of the best sets I've ever heard.
With all that said: just goes to show how fucking bullshit the DJ Top 100 list is, Nick Warren was rated at an incredibly low 84th spot, when he's easily in the top 10. The people doing the voting know DICK about dance music.
And if anyone else was there tonight, does anyone have maybe a tracklisting or can name me some of the tracks he dropped? Particularly the one at around 1:20am, jesus christ, that was insane.

I hate everyone who went to this, from the staff to the patrons.
But I hate the last 2 weeks of school even more.

Nick Warren always delivered when he played at the Guv.
Here's a clip I took of the Kings of Leon's - Milk, when he spun there in March 2006.
He always played catchy tunes I just had to go search for them when I got home.

Circa is awful, funny it will do well despite itself so long as it continues to bring class acts like Nic Warren.
So many fights, so many bouncers yelling CONSTANTLY, such a throwback to that mindless power mongering of clubs I thought had gone extinct. Unless Jesus or Sven Vath decides to show up there I cannot see myself there again.
That said it was nice to see Mr Warren again, he really delivered on all tracks, nice melodic sound, some vocals; just a really better than expected set.
Had the chance to sit with him to talk about the set I heard of his In Bintan Indonesia and he was all smiles.
It was almost embarrassing to have to have him finally come to Toronto and see him play in that playpen for douches.

I was surprised that this started to empty out around 2, I've been to normal Circa nights that were busy till well after 3... definitely a shocker!
but basically the highlight of my night is bouncers yelling at people.
seemed like a prison through coat check, guest list and in between rooms.
all I hear is constant yelling "MOVE IT MOVE IT!" or my favorite "STOP CROWDING!" wtf? its a club...what do you want us to do... stand single file and behave ourselves?
stupid asses. they are the reason everyone comes out with a bad mood, they start the negativity before you even step foot in the club...don't even get me started about the bouncers outside.
sorry circa you disappointed greatly, i've only been once before during grand opening weekend and i'm never going back.

lol why would a business (Circa) treat their customers (club-goers) so poorly... doesnt that defy like the basic point of 'customer service'
'You paid money to come into our club, and now we will yell at you!'
Its almost like they dont appreciate their customers and just act like patrons are lucky to be in the club inthe first place

Its the richmond st. crowd. The area is filled with prepubescent twats. Most of the kids on weekends should be at home developing their reasoning skills.
