Hey, anyone know a good place in Melbourne to buy a computer?
I was looking up some on the Dell website but they seem a tad overpriced compared to the one's listed in the Green Guide. But I bought my last computer from one of those random places in the Green Guide and it was built with cheap parts because it sounded like I was sitting next to a runway.

Then you goto one of the things listed in the green guide... and buy whatever quality parts you want, and build it yourself. Or get someone who charges like 40 bucks to build it for you.
and if you want an idea of what are some good parts try:
bro if you know exactly what you want, brands, model etc. goto Centrecom, cheap as chips - be prepared to wait in line though, they're always chockers :/ but worth it

Definitely great prices but shocking customer service (usually they are a bunch of cvnts!)
It all depends on how much you know about computer building?
1.) If you can put one together yourself, go to MSY or equivalent, with a list of components.
2.) Buy components and find a friendly nerd who will slap it together for a carton of beer or less.
3.) search forums such as Whirlpool for reputable places that will build it cheaply and use quality components.
4.) lower your IQ considerably and buy a mac.

i went to msy recently, chose wat parts i wanted and they charged an extra $70 to whack it all together. well worth the money if u dunno how to do it.

Ta for all the responses. Am going to get msy to build me one as I cbf/don't really know what I'm doing. I have a friend who reckons he could build it for me but I don't think he knows what he's doing either.
Customer service at msy is shite though.

haha duuudee... this is exactly what i did about a month ago.
My mate told me he knew how to build one, so i got all the parts with him, and he ended up destroying the cpu chip by putting it in the wrong way... He payed for the new one, then we got one of the dudes there to put it all together for free, in 15 mins coz he didnt want to do customer service. haha it was awesome
now i find out i need a mac within a year anyway.. which is a bitch lol
