I've tried a couple of free cd burner software programs.. they all burn at the slowest speed of 10x. Any that burn at slower speeds? I am still having issues every now and then with the burn.

I have had & still have burn issues with Nero, the burns do not hold pitch. CDBurnerXP should do the trick, burns as slow as 3x speed. Don't be put off by the name it works fine on Vista

I burn at about 16speed mostly, the speed is variable. Never had any problems.
If less is more think about how much more more would be.

Are you on a PC or Mac? When you say burn issues, what is the exact problem?
I had a problem with various software burning programs years ago until I figured out that the CD drive I had needed a firmware update, so it could be hardware related (but unlikely).
The Sony CD's are good - but I have heard of very rare batch faults. You could try another brand/batch and see if you have the same problem.
