Trance Mainstream?

Does anyone think that Trance will become mainstream in the US?

I personally don't want Trance to be mainstream, because I think that Trance is more exciting while it's still somewhat underground.

What do you all think?

Wether or not trance will become mainstream in the US is a distant second, in my opinion, to my concern that it will remain quality.

As for weather it will become mainstream or not I highy doubt it. The only way is for there to be a big American trance personality (somene like PVD, Corsten, Jules, Gielen, etc.) but even then it's doubtful. Me thinks its just because of the fact that 'clubbing' as pretty much everyone on this board knows it will never be mainsteam.

Just my 2 pennies,
Dave

It will NEVER be mainstream in the U.S.

The tracks are too long, people don't have the attention spans.
Although radio edits of cheezier tracks are getting popular, that means very little.

I dont think it will. Not our type of Trance. I hear fluffy trance like Lasgo and crap and that is just radio-stream junk that the girls like around Chicago. Being in a college town I goto alot of parties and I DJ at least one a weekend. The big thing is Progressive. I spin trance and the people melt, but it seems that all I ever hear is prog prog prog and occasionally techno and even rarely jungle (my buddy spins that shizznit).

America is way to picky about what they listen to. I mean if people can have michael Jackson and N*stync on the same shelf, what makes you think that they would reach for a trance compilation?? It is mainly the younger generation that loves this. Dont see too many folk over 28 at a rave do you? maybe at a club they are older, but it is us (15ish to early 20's) that is engulfed in the genre of music. And with all ages listening the radio, there is no way that we will hear good and new tiesto in the afternoon.

This is my Chicago oppinion. What about other places?

Instrumental music isn't successful in America. You want hits you do dance hall synthpop or just play underground trance or regular synthpop.

Or you can play cheese like RnB & Rap.

The closest trance will get to becomming mainstream in US is cheesey euro-dance and vocal trance stuff (Ex. Alice Deejay, Ian Van Dahl, ATB, Darude) No worries.

OMG...alice deejay

I gotta admit i liked her before until some of my friends mistaken her as trance and got my pissed! I know the cheesy trance are definitely played on the radio, but since all the good trance happens to be imports, I'm not too sure if trance will ever get popular here. I wouldn't really give a care if trance became mainstream, because then everyone would understand why I like the music so much...until that happens, I will be one of the unique ones out of all my friends that loves trance.

I really hate it when friends classify the cheesy trance as real trance!!! They gotta understand good trance is never on the radio in the U.S.! Although there is this one station that plays electronic music at the very late night around 1-4 AM on saturday nights which sometimes they play good trance and just a little bit cheesy tracks.

i think that trance will become mainstream one of these days...WILD 84.9 (<< hip hop station) has trance and LIVE 105 (<< a rock station) is playing trance too! so trance is making their way up the ladder but wil it be bigger than hip hop?? hmm....i guess time will tell that one

Alice Deejay is almost like synthpop if you ask me. Some are too bubblegummy to be synthpop though... But I like The Lonely One/Better off Alone/Back in my Life

It depends, the bubble gum trance the nonsense one is popular for example Alice deejay.. i dont call that trance.

For me The Orb is the real trance and it will never get played in radio for better.
Alice deejay was one of the bigest name to mislabel the trance and now its a teenage liked music... bastards.
