I have never lost anything in a fire or had my home robbed *knock on wood* But I have had friends who have gone through it.

The one this that I noticed very quickly was how little material things meant to them after an experience like that.

Things come and things go unfortunately.... I am happy you were not exposed to that fire yourself.

A friend of mine lost everything in a fire recently - but she had insurance.
Tenants insurance costs about $15/month - definitely worth it. Sorry to hear you had to learn the hard way.
