I wouldn't go to Thailand anyway, not even if you gave me a free bloody two-way ticket. Enough foreigners/tourists have been killed and/or robbed there.

They had problems, have problems, and will continue to have problems. Border disputes, national upheaval, corruption and poverty, plus this sheet.

I read about protests in Thailand almost every other week, someone is always protesting something there ...

There's the example of the stupidity in the decision of the courts. I am sure there are many of the government's supporters.

But I think they should technically do elections here. Current government is illegal, as it was a result of the September 2006 coup, though monarchy is still present, but not much of a administrative role in the country. Yes, I do not think that the 2007 elections were proper and accurate since the leading party was banned by the junta.

Tourism industry is huge there, but I won't go until things are settled down.

The court would have made its decision whether there were protests or not.

Couple of my Canadian buddies got robbed there last summer. This summer a Russian couple got shot there.

Police is really terrible when it comes to solving crimes like these.

Its probably not as bad there as I say it is, but I'd rather go to place like Cuba thats for sure. I'd rank Thailand alongside with Mexico for tourism - and there's plenty of Canadian media stories on the once-in-a-while tourist misfortunes there.

I recall that a few foreigners got jailed for a long time for drugs in Thailand. And the justice system is pretty dam crappy in dealing with the appeals and the process.

fair enough, if you are in South East Asia i'd recommend going to Laos, much safer, a culture less spoiled by tourism, amazing scenery

in Cuba my drink was spiked and i ended up in the back of a police car
