Sub-Woofer Recommendations

Hi guys.

I am thinking about getting a sub-woofer for my bedroom studio. Currently I mix on a pair of EVENT TR8s and I then use the Alpine sub in my car as a gauge of the sub-bass in my tunes.

Would you guys mind giving me a few recommendations for a quality yet not too expensive sub-woofer? I'd appreciate some advice

I recommend not getting one. They're mostly recommended for 5.1 mixing situations. If you can't hear the sub-bass properly, you should invest in new monitors and/or acoustic treatment.

What monitors go down to 20hz or lower?

I mixed without a sub for years. After adding one I would never go back. Get a sub with a bypass foot pedal so you can turn it on and off on demand. You get the best of both worlds this way.

That's what I run. I have a cheap sub, but I like to know that I have full range (20hz-20khz) at the push of a pedal.

For accurate STEREO monitoring, stay away from subs, period. There's no reason TR8's need a sub - there's something wrong with your room acoustics if you're not getting enough bass. If it's for listening though, just get whatever sounds fat and the RP-10 is goodun'.
