Not everybody hates him, but the hardcore trance people dont like him

I have seen him once, he sucked ass in terms of mixing and track selection. He played full out cheese the whole night, he even played barthezz

I personally think DJ jean is better than him

I like him!...um, yeah. I think he doesn't play just 'cheese' as people are calling it...he actually has cool mixes of both really heavily played songs like the bongo song, and obscure ones like Fiocco - the crowd is moving which came like 2 songs before the other one on a club eau set. He also uses a good speed for dancing...

I am not really a fan of Gielen the DJ, but he has (together with Svenson) produced many tunes worthy of mention. I guess I liked his style better before (since I'm more into harder stuff today) but I can probably list at least ten tracks that are really good (mostly remixes). Most are a couple of years old though.

That's my opinion.

Oh, and I would define his style as a-bit-clubby-very-happy-&-quite-uplifting-melodic-trance

Original question

As for the original post...from what I've heard (I haven't heard all his live performances or anything) but in tons of his remixes, I wouldn't call it hard trance...it's way too 'light' sounding for that...beats very bouncy and not very imposing...
