Tydi Biography
The latest gift from Queensland, Australia to the global Dance scene is tyDi. At just 19 years old, tyDi has claimed the position of #12 in the Inthemix Technics Top 50 national DJ poll and #3 for his home state of Queensland. As a DJ, tyDi’s skills and flair for interactive performance are in great demand. He performs regularly at the best clubs and events nationally and has started his international career before even turning 20. As a Producer, tyDi’s tracks and remixes can be found internationally on vinyl and CD, his music features on 3 different compilation albums and his own artist album will be released this year.
tyDi’s inclination towards music started at an extremely young age, he studied, played and wrote music throughout his schooling years. His vocation into the DJ arena began at 14 when he found himself behind the turntables and in the studio. tyDi focussed upon his production skills, culminating with his first release onto vinyl at age 16. Also eager to display his secure DJ talents, tyDi entered “Brisbane DJ Wars” and the “central station DJ competition”, effortlessly winning both DJ competitions and propelling his name towards immediate prominence. These incredible efforts achieved so quickly at such a young age created immediate headlines, where he was regularly invited to play at clubs interstate from age 16!
Gathering a large following appreciative of his interactive and highly charged DJ performances, tyDi has rocked many a dance floor throughout Australia’s clubbing districts. With so many accomplishments for one still so young, tyDi recognised the need to formally develop his musical faculties. By age 17, The Queensland Conservatorium of Music likewise acknowledged the potential of tyDi’s immense talents, accepting him as a student for Bachelor of Music Technology. Balancing his study with his DJ performances, tyDi continued to improve his production skills. A number of collaborations with many well recognized artists prompted tyDi to actively pursue the path of Trance, though his musical genius is vast. His productions range from Progressive to tech, house, pop and even film music. A performance at Australia’s award winning No.1 Nightclub for “Godskitchen” lead to a weekly residency at “Family Nightclub” – though tyDi was barely of the legal age to even be a patron. Nevertheless, tyDi’s presence at “Family” each Friday night has generated a rising appeal and awareness in Queensland’s heretofore deficient Trance arena. Not content for his music to be reserved merely for the dance floor, tyDi’s live mixes have also played across radio waves throughout Australia on Triple J and many other radio stations. He has continued to encourage national and international interest by performing before mass crowds at Summafieldayze, Big Day Out, Slinky, Godskitchen, Sublime@Home, Progress@GAS, Adventj*h, Mayhem, and many other major Dance clubs / events– particularly Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Darwin. tyDi continues to be billed alongside many of the worlds biggest artists. When most 18 year olds had only just started going clubbing, tyDi had already supported the worlds No.1 DJ Paul Van Dyk.
In 2006 tyDi’s remixes and productions were signed to “Mixology Digital Records”, with his original tune ‘Familiar Streets’ (featuring Holly Ryan on vocals) released internationally as a record and on CD single. ‘Familiar Streets’ appears both in its original form and as a remix on beXta’s compilation “Mixoloy 9”. tyDi’s track “Is It Cold” also features on the compilation “A Night of Trance – The Anthems”, which was released to critical praise, concluding with a stellar performance at “Home” in Sydney.
Finally, tyDi’s ambition to become an international DJ was realised at the end of 2006 with heady performances to packed dance floors in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. With the upcoming release of a self-produced artist album, a mix CD, the release of several new tracks on the horizon and more opportunities for international and national performances, tyDi has an assured vision for his future.
